Exodus 15:26 “And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the Lord that healeth thee.”
The Lord is our provider of every need, including healing. In order for us to receive healing in our lives, our faith should be pleasing to God, our will should be submissive to His will, and our understanding should vast enough to understand that healing is not just physical. Remember that we serve a mighty God. Hence, for us to be on the same page with Him, we have to have faith in Him.
In so doing, God promises to heal us from every disease. He promised the children of Israel that he will not give them the diseases he gave to Egyptians if they obeyed him. In the same way, he will not let us have challenges that we cannot endure. Instead, he will help us through every situation.
The children of Israel had a hard time coping with the challenges they faced in the wilderness. God delivered them from the years of slavery and suffering from Egypt. He successfully made them cross the red sea while it swallowed the Egyptian army. Yet, every time they came across difficult situations, they complained to Moses. This is quite like many of us. Despite the good things God has done for us, we still complain and doubt him when we are in difficulty. We keep forgetting that God is our provider. Be it healing, we require, he will heal us.
After the children of Israel crossed the desert, they were quite thirsty. They came across the river marsh, but to their disappointment, the water was bitter. Instead of crying to God for help, they again complained to Moses. Instead of calling to God for help, they again complained to Moses. At least for him, he understood that his strength and answers came from the Lord. He cried out to him and God gave him a solution. With wood from a tree, he touched the water with it, and it became sweet. Interesting right?
After this incident, God wanted Moses to encourage the children of Israel about the advantages of believing in God. “And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, and wilt does that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the Lord that healeth thee.” The same message applies to each and every one of us. God promises us healing when we leave our wicked ways and choose to follow his commands. He also promises that we will not get diseases like those he gave to the Egyptians.
Like Moses, the Bible encourages us to depend on God for our every need. We all have our weaknesses in life. That is why we often suffer emotional and spiritual challenges. Our bodies also grow weary, and we need God to restore our strength. For our emotional healing, Psalm 147:3 encourages us that “He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.” How about physical healing? Mathew 11:5 says “The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hears, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.”
What does God require of us so that we receive healing? First, we are required to live a life that pleases him. For us to do that, we need to be free from sin. By repentance, our sins are forgiven. From there, it is upon us to leave our wicked ways behind and stick to the word of God and let it guide us. Secondly, God wants us to obey all his commands. When we do that, then God will never let us have sicknesses that we do not understand. Should we fall ill, He will heal us.
Exodus 15:16 says, “And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the Lord that healeth thee.”
Healing comes from the Lord. Anyone can receive it as long as they believe in him. There is no price one has to pay to receive healing and any provision from God. The only requirement is that you live a life that he approves. Also, he wants us to follow the commands he has put in place. After that, no sickness or difficulty will put us down. God will give us the strength to overcome our troubles and healing to overcome our sicknesses.
The difficulties we go through in life are inevitable. In such moments, let us bring God close to our lives. Why is this so? Because he is the only one, who can show us the way out. If we depend on our own strength and solutions, we are likely to fail. We have no power over sicknesses that affect us or our loved ones. We only have to pray to God and let him do his part. He says, “I am the Lord that healeth thee.” Why don’t we leave all our troubles to him and stop complaining like the Israelites?
